Volvo Cars South Africa ("we", "us", "our") operates this digital vehicle tools platform. We are based in South Africa and subject to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act No. 4 of 2013.

2. What information we collect

When you use our tools, we collect:

• Contact information: Your full name, email address, and mobile number
• Tool responses: The answers you provide to each tool's questions (vehicle details, safety concerns, financial preferences, etc.)
• Technical data: Anonymous browser identifier, device type, pages visited, referral source
• Consent records: Timestamp and version of the consent you provided

3. Why we collect it

We use your information to:

• Generate your personalised report and Volvo recommendation
• Send you the report via email
• Share your enquiry with Volvo Cars South Africa so their team can follow up
• Remember your preferences if you return to complete another tool
• Improve the platform over time based on aggregated usage patterns

We will never sell your information to third parties or use it for purposes you haven't explicitly consented to.

4. Who we share it with

• Volvo Cars South Africa: the dealership that will contact you about your Volvo enquiry
• Our infrastructure providers: Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting), all operating under standard data processing agreements
• Analytics platforms (Meta, Google): only aggregated, pseudonymised data; no personally identifiable information

5. How we protect it

• Encrypting all data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
• Using row-level security policies in our database
• Limiting access to authorised personnel only
• Maintaining audit logs of all data access

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct any inaccurate or outdated information
• Delete your information at any time ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to the processing of your information
• Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

7. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above, or as required by law. Lead data is typically retained for 24 months from the last interaction, after which it is archived or anonymised.

8. Cookies and tracking

We use essential storage to remember your tool progress and preferences. Analytics cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, Hotjar) are only activated with your explicit consent. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser storage or contacting us at privacy@drivevolvosa.co.za.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to users with active consent, and the "last updated" date at the top will reflect the current version.
